Wholesale changes and exciting new faces at Ossett

Grant Black is recruiting several first team players at Ossett looking to escape relegation.
Since arriving at the club just 15 days ago, Black has added a significant amount of ability to the squad and has already begun to improve results for The Reds with a win and a draw in his first two games.
The new manager signed two strikers in Danny Frost and Alex Peterson who have both scored two goals in two games for their new club. The new attacking partnership has seen the team pick up their first win in the league since a run of nine consecutive losses. Grant knows the quality these two front men hold after playing with Frost at Bradford Park Avenue and working with Peterson at Doncaster Rovers.
When asked about his new signings Black said:
“I’m only going to bring in players that are going to add to what we’ve already got. I either see them being a stating 11 player or a player that’s going to come on and contribute if we need them to.
“I don’t sign players just to make up the numbers. Every player that I’m signing is either going to be good enough to come straight in or good enough to push the players that are already playing.”
Black sung words of praise in particular for midfielder Jack Wakefield and left back Steve Ridley. Wakefield has slotted into centre midfield and has been solid since the new manager arrived controlling the games for Town. Steve Ridley was brought in as assistant manager by Black but is also playing in defence and has been “unbelievable” over the last two games.
Josh Schofield is another new, young striker that was recommended to Black and was on Lincoln City and Gillingham books. After watching him for Armthorpe Welfare the manager was desperate for his signature with talk of interest from many other clubs.
Brad Dockerty is another exciting prospect on his way to Ossett from Frickley on loan for a month. The 19 year old, pacey winger has shown great potential and has been watched by League One club Barnsley this season.
It seems Black is not yet finished recruiting to strengthen the squad and Ossett Town fans may have a few exciting players to look forward to in the near future.
Campaigns for TimeToGoMassimo on the rise

Leeds United are a club all too familiar with controversy, especially when it comes to their ownership.
In recent times there have been many loyal whites calling for Cellino to sell the club after it is felt he made false promises to the fans upon his arrival at Elland Road and has made little to no progress with the famous Championship side.
The #timetogomassimo campaign has caused friction between fans with opposing views on the controversial Italian businessman. The most recent protest against the owner was the home game against Middlesbrough. A group of fans projected anti-Massimo Cellino graphics onto the side of the East Stand from the back of a van parked in a match-day car park.
In an interview with Shaun Wager who runs a campaign on twitter (@TimeToGoMassimo) many problems with the Leeds owner were highlighted.
“It’s not just the lack of progress under the ownership of ‘Eleonaora Sports Ltd’, but the actual regression that is taking place within the club.
“Right from seeing our academy stripped back to a bare-bones shadow of its former self, to the contempt shown to the fans and the same shown for our own home grown players in offering them pay cuts.”
The protest at the game against Middlesbrough named 17 reasons why he should leave but Wager was unable to identify just one major issue with Cellino’s ownership. However, he felt one of the worst was when Cellino allegedly introduced the pie-tax after criticism from the fans, he said:
“openly laughing at charging our fans extra for chanting against him while spouting ‘criticise me, you pay extra’, an absolutely disgusting and contemptuous moment in the history of this club.”
Cellino has already been banned from Leeds two times after being convicted of tax evasion. When asked if he had the club and it’s fans at heart when taking over Wager said:
“After being refused ownership at Crystal Palace and West Ham, and the failing to take control of Sheffield Wednesday it can never be said that he’s had the club at heart.”
Evan celebrities have shown their support and sadness at the current situation,
@ShaunijeW Belated best wishes for the campaign. I’ve never forgiven you for the ’72 FA Cup Final, but the City deserves a big club!

Many Leeds fans are desperate for a new owner who has the same love and passion for the club as the fans. They want someone who will fully commit to the club and get them back to where they feel they belong in the top flight of English football.
When asked who he would like to see take over, Wager said:
“Personally, I’d like to see businessmen with good football experience, a true love of Leeds United as their reasoning for getting involved and no cheap words to get people onside.”
Bradford Park Avenue 1-2 Boston United
Avenue were unable to keep the visitors and National League North’s top goalscorer Dayle Southwell at bay as Boston took all three points with a 2-1 victory at the Horsfall Stadium.
The Pilgrims could not have gotten off to a better start as they found themselves one up during the first minute. Jay Rollins hit a thunderbolt of a strike from 25-yards which flew into the net off the underside of the bar leaving Avenue goalkeeper Jon Stewart with no chance.
This early goal seemed to give the visitors much needed confidence as Boston continued to cause problems for the Avenue defence. Bradford were able to release the pressure momentarily and had an effort of their own through Callum Chippendale but he was unable to warm the keeper’s gloves as his shot flew over the crossbar.
United had a chance to double their lead half way through the first half when the ball fell to Southwell looking for his 16th goal of the season. His shot beat Stewart but he was unable to find the back of the net as the ball struck the post.
Over 400 supporter’s attended the game but the majority of the noise came from the Boston faithful in the first half as they got behind their team and could sense a victory.
Just before the half-time whistle Rollins had an opportunity for his second but his curling shot was unable to find the top corner and the visitors took a one goal advantage into the break..
Martin Drury’s half time team talk failed to change the pattern of the game as Boston started the second half just as they did the first. Danger-man Southwell managed to grab his 16th of the season after a mistake from Stewart. He rushed off his line to close down Rollins who skipped past him just outside the penalty area to set up Southwell who finished confidentally.
Avenue’s captain then turned on his own defender Billy Priestly after he let the ball roll back to Stewart in goal.
Drury decided it was time to change to a more attacking system in an attempt to rescue the match and it almost paid off as Jason St Juste replaced Lamin Colley.
Craig King had a shot that United keeper Fabian Spiess was unable to deal with calling on his defenders to clear the danger.
The home crowd found their voice as they noticed the team start to put pressure on promotion hopefuls Boston. After several chances for the home side their continual pressure was rewarded after Dylan McEvoy cleared Chippendale’s initial effort off the line. The Boston back line were unable to clear and King converted giving the home side a chance to get something from the game.
Avenue were unfortunate not to equalise towards the end of the match with sustained pressure on the Pilgrims. St Juste’s appearance made a notable difference to Bradford’s chances. He linked up well in the midfield and created several half chances that went begging late on.
Just as Avenue started looking more confident in possession and began to drive at the Boston back line, the referee blew for full time and The Pilgrims managed to hang on for all three points winning 2-1.
Ossett Town v Clitheroe Match Report and Post Match Interview

Ossett Town’s run of bad luck continued as they lost 5-1 at home and slipped to a seventh successive defeat to promotion play-off chasers Clitheroe.
Clitheroe striker Sefton Gonzales got himself a brace in what was a relatively easy game for the visitors in tough weather conditions.
Despite having the first real chance of the game, Ossett were relatively unthreatening towards Benjamin Woodhead’s goal all afternoon. Dan Monfredi hit a shot from the edge of the area which was cleared off the line by the Clitheroe defence.
It took the visitors only 11 minutes to break down Ossett’s leaky defence. Ross Dent was found from a set piece and his close range header looped into the net starting off an awful afternoon for the relegation threatened Town in 22nd place.
Christopher Lynch got his first, smashing home from inside the crowded Town area. Bandon Barski put a good ball in the box which was blocked excellently by Ossett centre-back Joseph Ojo. Town were unable to clear the resulting corner which eventually fell to Lynch who didn’t need a second opportunity.
The Reds managed a few good spells of football in a game where they were second best throughout. Ossett started knocking the ball around with confidence using both wings. The ball was pulled back to Dan Monfredi who, much like the Reds’ season so far, failed to deliver with the shot not worrying Woodhead.
There were chances for both sides towards the later end of the first half with Clitheroe’s Scott Harries firing over from close range. Ossett’s Fernando Moke was denied by the offside flag before rounding the keeper from an accurate Tawanda Rupere through ball.
Gonzalez sealed the win for The Blues five minutes before half time when his initial effort was parried by Chris Backhouse. The Town defence were slow to react and the striker made no mistake the second time of asking.
The Red’s faced more pressure in the second half with crosses coming in from both sides. Dent went close from the edge of the area on the right but his shot curled wide of the far post.
Two more quick goals from Lynch and Gonzales, completing their braces respectively further concluded the inevitable.
The away side continued to press and were unlucky not to score again at the end of the match when Backhouse made two quick-fire saves and managed to get hold of the ball in safe arms preventing them from conceding six for the first time this season.
Town were awarded a penalty by referee Wade Smith late on. Substitute David Brown took the kick and slotted home a consolation goal in a tough match for Ossett Town. They will need to find a change in form in the coming weeks in order to lift themselves out of the relegation zone and stay in the league.

Guiseley’s Ben Walker praises award winning training camps

Guiseley’s ‘Player Involvement’ award winning coaching camps are just around the corner and they are more popular than ever.
The club were given the award by the Premier League Trust for getting first team players involved with coaching.
Nethermoor’s ex first-team player Danny Ellis who became a ‘Youth Academy Coach’ with Guiseley was the founder of the training camps. In their early stages they would get between eight to ten players in total over the three days. This has now grown to roughly 30 each session.
This year, first team midfielder Luke Porritt will be taking the training camps again. It is a great chance for local boys and girls to get involved with the club and meet the first team player. Walker said:
“They absolutely love it when Luke coaches them, they idolise him and he’s great with them. He always has a laugh with them and I think that’s why we’ve had so many kids coming down.”
The club’s aim is to get as many young players between six and 14, no matter their ability, to enjoy the game. There is even a chance for them to prove their potential and get into the Guiseley academy although the main focus is to get kids active and playing football over the three day period.
The training camps have been so successful that it has been noticed there has been an increase in the amount of players joining Guiseley juniors after enjoying the week.
Camps will run between Tuesday 16th February to Thursday 18th February during half-term. Children must wear shin pads at all times and should bring their own lunch and water to stay hydrated.
Chairman Gareth Dando hopes new changing room complex can help build a sustainable future for Frickley Athletic

At the last count, Frickley were just over £4,000 away from raising the £50,000 target for the new community changing room complex.
Club Chairman, Gareth Dando expressed that players and fans expect something a little more modern than Westfield Lane Stadium’s main stand which was built in 1926 and is turning 90 years old later this year. The new complex will give the stadium a fresh and more modern element that will attract both players and fans.
Dando was enthusiastic about the new build which he hopes can improve the club’s future by attracting players to the club, as well as juniors and fans to create a bright future. He said:
“We are a club that is sustainable, looking to grow on a sustainable level. We are not a club that throws silly money at players because that’s not long term or sustainable in our view.
“We hope that we are doing things long term to secure the future of the club to make sure we are here in 20, 40, 60, 70 years’ time rather than booming and busting like a lot of clubs.”
The new build will be owned by the club but will be available for use by junior teams and the rest of the public, whether that’s table tennis clubs or for coffee mornings throughout the week. He hopes that sharing the complex will allow the club to play a bigger role in the community.
Frickley’s fund raising efforts through matches and nights have gone a long way to reaching the target so far. Almost £20,000 was raised from a donation of over 1,000 programmes by a life-long fan of the club with other private donations adding to this figure.
The ‘buy-a-brick’ campaign has also been successful with both individuals and businesses. A plaque with all the names of people who have contributed will be on show in the building when it is complete. The chairman thanked the clubs supporters adding, “The fans have been very patient and very generous with what they’ve given.”
He has accepted that it will not be a massive earner for the club but hopes that some spin-offs will come from having people use the facility that will create some income to support the club’s financial status.
The community changing rooms are expected to be ready for use in time for the start of next season.
2016 Prospects for West Yorkshire clubs
AFC Emley
AFC Emley have gone unbeaten in the league since September when they lost 4-3 away at Westella VIP which is an impressive 16 game run. They are currently 5th in the Northern Counties East Football League with only one home loss all season. A statistic only three other clubs in the league can claim. The Pewits are currently six points off an automatic promotion place and with a free-scoring striker in Ashley Flynn, will surely be targeting the top two.
Bradford City
After an impressive two months in October and November, City occupy 10th spot in the league with at least one game in hand over all nine teams above them. They are only three points off Peterborough in 6th and have two games in hand over the Cambridgeshire club. One slightly negative statistic of the Bantams is their goal difference with most of the teams above them in the league having a considerably better difference than them. In order to push for the top six, Bradford will have to find confidence at Valley Parade and start scoring in front of the home crowd.
Bradford Park Avenue
Avenue are currently in the lower mid-table of the National League North, but along with Curzon Ashton and Stalybridge, have played only 20 games so far this season which is five less than Boston. It is still possible for them to push for a promotion place if they can take advantage of the games in hand. However, getting a run of consistent results and sustaining a mid-table position is a more realistic target for BPA.
Farsley Celtic
Farsley had a poor start to the seaon, failing to pick up their first win in the league until the later end of September when they beat fellow West Yorkshire opponents, Ossett Town. After a poor second half of October, The Villagers have picked up their form and have had five consecutive wins in the league. These include convincing wins against teams pushing for a play-off place. Farsley beat 6th placed Cliterhoe 5-2 away from home in November and also overturned 7th in the League Spennymoor Town 4-0 at The Brewery Field in their last match. It is fair to say Farsley will be aiming for a few places higher than their current position in 13th if they are able to keep their current form going into the new year.
Frickley Athletic
Frickley are another mid-table side from West Yorkshire. They are currently 12th in the Northern Premier League on 34 points, eight points from the play-off places. Frickley have struggled to put a run of form together all season, with their best form so far coming in between the later stages of August to the first week of September. They picked up four wins in six unbeaten, consecutive games. It is definitely possible for The Blues to push for a play-off place but they would need to find a solid run of results to threaten the teams at the top.
Guiseley
At present, Guiseley are one of the West Yorkshire strugglers in their league. They sit just above the relegation zone in 18th place but have played at least one more game than every team below them, except Boreham Wood who have also played 27. Guiseley have only won one of their last seven games in the league and have been poor defensively. Only four teams in the league have conceeded more goals this season than The Lions who have been on the wrong end of some high scorelines. They lost 5-0 away at Cheltenham in November and then lost 4-1 at home to Eastleigh just four days later, conceeding 10 goals in the three games that week. The Lions must focus on reducing the amount of goals they conceed, especially in front of their home crowd, to stay in the league.
Halifax Town
Halifax are another team that look in trouble and need a turn in form in the new year to keep Conference Premier status. They are third from bottom and have conceeded the most goals at home in the league. A statistic the Shaymen will need to lose should they manage to escape the relegation zone. Halifax have struggled defensively with short-term loan goalkeepers that have struggled to settle and keep a clean sheet to prevent the frequent goals the team are conceeding. They also lost some crucial players in Scott Boden and Lee Gregory who supplied many goals for the team over the last few seasons and was the reason they were pushing for football league status. The loss of these players have seen them struggle this season. Halifax will be aiming to get out of the relegation zone in the new year and stay in the league.
Huddersfield
Huddesrfield are only three places and four points from safety in the Championship. They have picked up a mere 2 away wins all season and need to improve this statistic to fight for survival in the league. The Terriers finished 16th last season and were hoping to build on that but will need to turn their from around in the second half of the season to stay safe. Avoiding relegation will be the target for the club this season.
Leeds United
The West Yorkshire side are currently 12th in the Championship. Preseaon optimism was at an all time high with the Leeds faithful in recent years, with many expecting a play-off fight. Depsite being relatively solid at the back, Leeds have struggled going forward. Only seven teams in the league have scored less goals than the Whites and striker Chris Wood was brought in from Premier League high-flyers Leicester to help with the problem. He has struggled to score for Leeds and has looked short of confidence in front of goal. They will be optimistic with the current position and hopes of a push for a play-off position are still very much alive.
Ossett Albion
Albion are one of the most promising sides for West Yorkshire in comparison with the other teams in their leagues. The Unicorns are 3rd in the Northern Premier League Division One North and eight points from the top two teams in the league. They have won their last eight games in the league and if they are able to keep this run of form there is no reason they will not be able to clinch an automatic promotion place at the end of the season.
Ossett Town
By complete contrast to their neighbours, Town are struggling at the foot of the same league. The Reds havent won a game in the league since mid September and have lost 12 of their 20 matches so far this season. They will be aiming for survival this season and they need to stop their leaky defence in order to improve their goal difference and start climbing the league to a safer position.
Team of the Week 19/12/15

Infographic by Piktochart
Jon Stewart – The Bradford PA keeper made several outstanding saves against his old club to keep a clean sheet and the 1-0 away win over Alfreton was their fourth consecutive win. Stewart’s first crucial save came in the first minute of the game when he pushed a John Johnston strike, destined for the top corner, over the bar. He made a second save when he managed to deal with an excellent free-kick that was parried away from danger. Stewart stayed strong in the Avenue net and was unbeaten, sealing his spot in this weeks West Yorkshire Team of the Week.
Matty Brown – Brown was brought back into the Halifax starting 11 at the weekend and had an excellent game at the back. His defensive organisation allowed Halifax to keep their shape at the back and made it difficult for Tranmere to break down. It was an important home draw for the Shaymen that was helped by Brown’s consistent performance earning his place in the Team of the Week.
Dominic Riordan – Ossett Albion’s Chairman was another defender who had an excellent game on Saturday. His clearance in the third minute of the game was what lead to the opener when it beat the whole of the Railway defence and set up Bordman for the goal. He made several important challenges to keep the Albion defence out of trouble for the 3-1 away victory against league strugglers Harrogate Railway.
Charlie Taylor – The young Leeds left-back is showing promising form of late and is making the left-back position his own in the starting 11. He made a number of dangerous crosses going forward for United that his team mates were unable to capitalise on. His defensive game proved just as strong with many clearances that helped Leeds keep a clean sheet and pick up all three points against ten-men Preston North End.
Tony McMahon – Bradford City’s right midfielder got the only goal of the game that secured all three points away at Chesterfield. McMahon created several chances from the right, including setting up Clarke with a cross whose header hit the post. An excellent through-pass to Stephen Darby on the edge of the area and his pullback to Kyle Reid whose thundering effort was tipped against the post.
Jordan Townend – Townend was the energy of the Emley midfield that earned them an important point to go 12 games unbeaten. He also had a a free-kick from long range that just went over the bar and was unlucky not to double Emley’s lead.
Nicky Wroe – The on-loan midfielder from Notts County captained the Halifax team against Tranmere on Saturday. He grabbed the goal to clinch a point in a good draw against a difficult side at the weekend. On a personal level, Wroe had an important game in charge of the team and a consistent performance. His clever strike for goal floated over Tranmere keeper Davies’ head from 25 yards looping into the net.
Craig King – King created several goal scoring opportunities and was unlucky not to score more than the one goal in a convincing win for Avenue. The left midfielder beat Cliff Mayo in the Alfreton net in the first ten minutes but his shot was cleared off the line. Just five minutes later King did take his chance and opened the scoring with a goal that ended up being the only one of the game. Late in the game Turner’s through-ball to King was precise and the winger looked certain to score his second but goalkeeper Spiess had other ideas as he flung out an arm to divert the attempt wide.
Rob Bordman – Bordman grabbed himself a brace and was the difference between the two sides in a game which ended in a 3-1 win for Albion. The three points saw Albion leapfrog an out of form Glossop to go fourth in the table. Bordman got two impressive goals and seemed to have brilliant attacking awareness to be in the right place at the right time getting on the end of attacking play to finish for Ossett in an important game.
Paul Walker – Walker made good runs and tormented the Ossett Town defence in the West Yorkshire clash on Saturday. He was the instigator of the second goal for Farsley when he set up a one two between Osbourne and Nightingale with the later finishing the chance to double Farsley’s lead. Walker got on the score sheet himself with a cool, curling finish into the bottom corner leaving goalkeeper Sam Leigh rooted to the spot.
Lewis Nightingale – Nightingale scored twice as Farsley beat Ossett Town 5-2 away from home. the wide attacker had many efforts at goal. His first two were well saved by Leigh in the Ossett goal who looked hard to beat. His first goal came from a well worked one-two with Leon Osbourne before slotting Farsley’s second. Nightingale completed his brace from a Chris Howarth cross that was expertly finished to put Farsley out of reach.
Team of the Week 28/11/15

Infographic by Piktochart
Brett Souter – Albion’s keeper only conceded one in a 6-1 drubbing by The Unicorns. Souter did well only to be beaten once in such poor weather conditions ensuring the win which took Albion within touching distance of the play-off positions.
Aaron Hardy – Hardy put in a man of the match performance at the Throstle Nest. He scored the first goal in the dying minutes, helping his team past the side seven places above them in the league table. Farsley have now won their last three in the league and four in all competitions. The right-back excellently finished a pass from Walker, cutting inside and curling the ball into the top corner.
Adam Clayton – The defender earns himself a second consecutive week in West Yorkshire’s Team of the Week after another excellent defensive display that, along with defensive partner Paddy Miler, earned Farsley a clean sheet. Clayton also had the chance to get on the score-sheet himself when Walker’s corner found his head but he was unable to take the chance and it was eventually cleared off the line.
Scott McManus – McManus has had some excellent performances this season for a struggling Halifax Town, hence his second appearance in a Team of the Week. He assisted the opening goal of the game after great work to set up Tuton who just doesn’t miss at the moment. The wide defender had another great run on a Halifax counter attack. He carried the ball out of his half and made an exquisite pass to Robert’s whose cross found that man Tuton again for his second of the game.
Tyler Williams – Williams had a great game on the wing for Frickley creating chances for them that could have clinched an away win for The Blues. They were unlucky not to pick up all three points away at Hyde to leap frog them in the table with a game in hand. With terrible playing conditions, Williams and Grayson were unlucky not to put the away side ahead with a tame finish to a promising attack. The winger had a great opportunity to turn one point into three late on be he was unable to convert the chance.
Rob Bordman – The central midfielder managed a brace against Clitheroe on Saturday. His first was Albion’s third of the match and set them on their way to all three points in excellent fashion. His second came from the penalty spot in the last minute of the game. Overall Bordman controlled and organised the Ossett midfield well which was crucial to getting all three points in awful playing conditions.
Ross Daly – The central midfielder had an opportunity to set up Savory but his shot from the edge of the box curled agonisingly wide. He had arguably an even better chance to assist the same man late on. His cross found Savory in the six yard area but yet again the striker failed to hit the target and another chance for Farsley to win went begging. Daly showed great attacking intent throughout the game and created many opportunities for his side, earning him a place in the Team of the Week.
Oliver Norburn – The central midfielder’s 30 yard rocket into the top corner was one of, if not, the best goal scored by a West Yorkshire club on Saturday placing him straight into my Team of the Week. His performance in the middle of the park helped secure a comfortable 2-0 home win to lift them to 16th in the league, away from danger of relegation for the time being.
Tom Davie – The left sided player has made it into the left of midfield in this weeks team. Davie is on loan at Westfield Lane from North Ferriby of the National League. He was brought in to replace Brad Dockerty managing to score on his debut and earn his team a valuable away point. The goal came around the hour mark. A Luke Hinsley cross was easily finished by Davie from close range.
Shaun Tuton – Halfax’s goal machine, Shaun Tuton, got himself another brace on Saturday after a hat-trick last weekend against Gateshead. His first goal came in just eight minutes after a brilliant bit of play by Scott McManus. The second came with a little over 10 minutes to go after the Dover defence failed to deal with a cross that landed on a plate for the in-form striker who sealed the win for The Shaymen.
Ashley Flynn – The striker scored a hat-trick to confirm another convincing win for the Pewits against second in the league AFC Mansfield. Flynn’s goals took his goal tally to 49 in only 27 appearances for the club this season and it’s not even Christmas yet.
Team of the Week 21/11/15

Infographic by Piktochart
Ben Williams – The Bradford City goalkeeper earned his team their sixth consecutive clean sheet with a 2-0 away win at Scunthorpe. One crucial save he made in order to keep a clean sheet on Saturday was a quick reaction one from a Van Veen header.
Adam Clayton – The defender hardly put a foot wrong in the game at the back for Farsley. Going forward, he had a couple of opportunities to get his name on the score sheet but was unable to capitalize. These opportunities came in the form of headers, both of which he was unable to test the Clitheroe keeper who watched them both sale over his bar. None the less a solid performance for Clayton.
Matty Brown – Brown had a difficult challenge on Saturday playing as part of a back three after just being put back in the first team. However he proved himself in an excellent individual performance that helped Halifax get an all important three points away from home. He had one opportunity to add to the Halifax goals himself but saw his looping header drift just over.
James Riley – Riley scored his first ever goal for Ossett Albion on Saturday with a brilliant away win at Kendal Town. He converted an excellent Rob Bordman cross with a header that opened the scoring for Albion.
Greg Leigh – Bradford City’s left back has now scored two in two games with his goal on Saturday. A good spell of passing play which opened up a through ball into Leigh from Billy Clarke which was dispatched into the far corner of the goal across the keeper.
Jason St Juste – Playing in defensive midfield, St Juste created many opportunities for Bradford Park Avenue as well as grabbing a late and deserved equaliser. His edge of the box strike found its way through a crowded penalty area and flew low into the bottom corner. He was unlucky not to grab an assist when his cross into the box only required Walshaw to put the ball into an empty net. He was unable to work into a shooting position and the opportunity went begging.
Kingsley James – James played great attacking football down the right flank that led to a bundle of chances for goal shy Halifax Town. A notable opportunity half way through the first half was when James whipped in a dangerous ball that was put behind for a corner. This just before a stunning long range strike that Sam Russell could only watch hit the back of the net. A top class strike from an inform player at The Shay.
Alex Hallam – The left winger’s brace was what separated AFC Emley and Knaresborough Town on Saturday which put him straight in to this weeks team of the week. He opened the scoring early on in the game and doubled the lead around the hour mark, securing all three points for Emley. That’s now eight games the Pewits have gone unbeaten.
Brad Dockerty – Dockerty had a brilliant all round game on Saturday in a tough 1-1 draw at the Westfield Lane Stadium. The attacking midfielder had a good chance when he ran at the Workington defence before hitting a 20+ yard shot that was well saved by Alex Mitchell. He also proved his defensive ability when he blocked a Connor Tinnion shot from the right side of the box.
Shaun Tuton – Tuton grabbed a (debatable) hat-trick at the weekend which earned him his spot in this weeks team of the week. His first was a flick on the line which was recorded as a Martin Smith own goal in the 22nd minute. His second came from a rebound after Kingsley James’ strike was well blocked by the Gateshead defence. With a little over ten minutes remaining Tuton completed his hat-trick after rounding the keeper and slotting home.
Aiden Savory – The striker was unlucky not to get the first goal for Farsley when his effort from an O’Brien cross was well saved. He then had a much disputed goal disallowed for offside after showing great attacking potential. It was only a matter of time before he got on the score sheet and he did this, scoring Farsley’s fifth of the game, wrapping up the win for The Villagers.
